the floob lamp designed by karim rashid for kundalini in 2007. the floob floor lamp is constructed from thermoformed, extruded and blow molded plexi-glass. the floob ceiling is constructed of the same, but in addition has a spun / laser cut aluminum reflector and integrated acid-etched glass diffuser. the floob lamps are made by forming plastic on an aluminum mold using heat. this process causes a reaction in the plastic and can form micropscopic bubbles or slight bands of air pockets which are characteristic of the floob line. since the product is made of translucent material, this bubbling and banding effect can be seen in conditions with backlighting.
