george nelson designed his first bubble lamp in 1947 and production by howard miller started in the early 1950s. production halted in 1979, but now the nelson bubble lamps have been reissued by modernica using the original specifications and tooling from howard miller. these lamps are featured in the permanent collection of the museum of modern art in new york. certain styles of the bubble lamp are available in different sizes, check dimensions carefully. polymer over steel construction. all lamps come with white cords and are rated for up to a 150 watt incandescent bulb (except the small saucer which is rated for up to a 60 watt bulb). UL approved.
