the surf suspension system was designed by neil poulton in 1998. this minimalist system was designed for high performance indirect lighting, utilizing the new T5 linear fluorescent tubes. the light sources for this system are pre-wired lamp modules in extruded aluminum with a matte polyester powder finish in white or light grey and custom colors with an aluminum reflector for maximum efficacy. these lamps are available in two standard lengths 47" or 59" and are standardly equipped with a 120V electronic fluorescent ballast. in continuous linear installation runs these modules join without connectors, but a selection of "L", "T", and "+" module connectors are available to allow for an uninterrupted layout in multiple 90° directions to obtain a homogenous indirect lighting distribution throughout the open space. the supporting stainless steel cables are adjustable at installation with a ceiling feeder canopy in steel and thermoplastic which mounting to standard electrical junction boxes and ceiling non-feeder canopy in steel and thermoplastic mounting directly to rigid ceiling surface.
