‘chaos.mgx’ designed by strand and hvass for materialise in 2006.
a stainless steel base and stem support a dimmable 20W halogen ballast surrounded by the ‘chaos’ diffuser shade (comprised of polyamide nylon) which allows the lamp to provide soft, diffused, ambient lighting anywhere it’s placed.
as with all materialise products, ‘chaos’ was created via ‘rapid prototyping technology’. this 3D material printing process allows for freedom of design far beyond the capacity of traditional manufacturing processes, literally building the object one tiny piece at a time.
