designed by studio tord boontje, the future flora lights are made from precision-etched metal sheets that transform into three different exotic bloom-shaped forms. this product inhabits the intersection of nature & technology. according to tord boontje, ‘although i started by looking very closely at flowers, it became a project from memory, to imagine shapes which are like flowers but not exactly, a new kind of species – a flower & light hybrid.’ the contoured openings, fine details, & matte silver surface of the future flora lights all conspire to illuminate space by casting poignant radiance. the lights are packaged flat and assembled by connecting the intricate metal sheets that make up each design. made from silver plated steel.
